Bio

Nikki Nye is a practicing artist currently residing in Atlanta, GA

Ten years ago, in an art school classroom, Nikki Nye was introduced to the world of paper art.  Her life was forever changed by it.  The resulting exploration of paper as a medium for sculpture has become for her an engrossing passion.

Nye draws great fascination from the subtle drama that can so poignantly be created by the lines and placement of cut paper.  Careful layering calls many deep shadows into play on each piece, which also pays great tribute to Caravaggio – one of Nye’s greatest inspirators.  The use of chiaroscuro, creating intense textures from flat paper surfaces, and stirring the eye to see great movement in static pieces of art is the essence of Nye’s artistic existence.
